Elysium Productions shot this great destination wedding in Paris with couple Carolina and Jamie. The film has a very classic feel to it, almost an 8mm look at times. Have a look, you won’t be disappointed.

I haven’t yet featured a wedding from Russia and I’m really happy to share this beautiful wedding film of Vikentiy & Katya by Oleg Kalyan. My favourite part is the circus performance towards the end. A jump rope with fire, clowns on stilts, fire dancers, and an impressive fireworks display.
Been away for a bit but back to regular posts. First up is a great wedding film in Riviera Maya Playa del Carmen by Unique Vision Studio from New York.
Today I’m so happy to show this amazing wedding film shot in Cuba by Studinger Films. It is shot in a very cinematic way and a style that you don’t see too often for wedding filming. It makes me miss the Cuban countryside. Enjoy!
Today we have an interview with Columbia based wedding photographer Julian Castro. He is based in Medellin Columbia and Florida USA.
Thank you so much for doing this interview, can you please introduce yourself?
Julian Castro known as Julkastro in the web.
How would you describe your style of photography?
Wedding Journalist searching for moments of love in different religions & cultures around the planet.
Can you describe your history with photography? When did you first start and when did it become a full time?
After 12 Years of working in advertising and later in journalism for ( colombiareports.com). In 2006 became an independent freelance photographer & journalist, I saw an interesting target by capturing real moments in a market of old school wedding photographers in Latin America. After years of work In 2010 i certified my work as a wedding photo journalist by www.wpja.com
You also work as a photojournalist. How does that compare to being a wedding photographer?
The only difference is the time involve and theme. Well, I applied the same principles of photo journalism, always hunting real but evocative moments, using the aesthetics of composition, light, angle, etc.
What is a Columbian wedding like? Do they differ from any of the weddings you’ve shot in America?
Difference may vary on the culture, traditions, like dances, music, dresses, etc. Sometimes religions or beliefs, but love and the desire to fulfil a couples dream is universal.
Do you think your years as a graphic designer have helped you with your photography?
Sure, I’m always educating my eye to find and explore new ways to express what i’m seeing behind the lens. Graphic design and cinema have always been my inspiration for this search
Where have your photographed weddings? Are there any places that stand out above the others?
Colombia and U.S.A, N.Y is my favorite place to shoot weddings, cause you’re always finding interesting moments outside, you just need to open the door and click. Cartagena in Colombia is also a great destination for a classic wedding because its mixes the tropical sea with historical spanish castles as they’re setting. Different but great places to shoot.
How would you describe a destination wedding?
Destinations is any place where you can find lots information to work, long hours of shooting can become dull, thats why the setting is so important to keep on finding great backgrounds or ideas.
What advice would you give to a bride who is planning a destination wedding?
Check the quality of vendors before travelling, in this market there are many people offering this service with no real experience, you need to feel it to believe it, and afterwards capture it.
How do you describe wedding photojournalism?
Its a new alternative for the couples, where posing and looking perfect has less priority, they’re real emotions and enjoying that special day without interruptions is the deal here. I work as a voyeur of love, clicking continuously until I find the right shot, without rehearsals. It’s the real thing.
As a photojournalist at wedding, how do you make the couple feel comfortable, relaxed and as if they aren’t posing?
I only make my subjects pose if the ask to, in this case I apply my artistic background to inform them which is the best pose for the shot. But I feel that my best work comes when I can act as a photo investigator, most of the times they dont know what im shooting, and its hard to contain this adrenaline, sometimes I can contain myself and I show some of this shots before editing them in my digital lightroom.
